Golf

Golfers are well catered for in the Glenkens with our own challenging 9 hole course at New Galloway. Many of the hotels offer golf break packages allowing the visitor to enjoy a wide variety of differing local courses.

"New Galloway Golf Club" has been part of the Glenkens community for 108 years. The course is always presented to an extremely high quality and offers some of the best views of any golf course in Britain, it being on the side of a hill. Membership is available at £165 per year with beginners and experienced players welcome. The club offers weekly competitions for both male and female golfers or for those who prefer the opportunity to simply play and enjoy the scenery. Check out the club’s website for more information, visitor prices and pictures of the course at www.nggc.co.uk.
Most members are happy to play with new members who would like some encouragement.

From parkland to links there is something for everyone, no matter what your handicap is.

In nearby Tongland there are also golf practice range facilities for the fair-weather golfer.

New Galloway Golf Club is easily accessible by road from the A713 Castle Douglas – Ayr road turning left at the Ken Bridge Hotel and New Galloway Golf course is a mile through the village.

The course climbs steeply for the first two holes from the clubhouse to a more open parkland terrain, and once you are at the third tee the course will test all players of every standard with its natural hazards.

The added bonus is the beautiful views of the rolling Galloway hillsides and the abundant wildlife.
